Winslow Kennels
The name "Winslow" originated as a reference to the home location of the kennel, on the farm land of Governor Edward Winslow of Massachusetts. The entire area is steeped in historical sites and buildings still echoing the mid-1600's Massachusetts Bay Colony culture. In an effort to epitomize the values of our founders through my breed efforts, the name Winslow was chosen. For over 25 years now, Winslow Kennels name has come to mean quality, tradition, honor, and strength.Our first breed champion was Am/Can Ch. Sir Joshua of Winslow ROM CC.
His ring career included multiple BIS (Best in Show) and BISS (Best in Show Specialty) wins in both Canada and the USA. His success in the ring extended to his own breed line siring 33 breed champions. Both the Canadian Shetland Sheepdog Club (CSSC) and American Shetland Sheepdog Association (ASSA) have bestowed "Sir Josh" with the coveted Register of Merit award. His likeness (shown in the logo at the top of this page) is recognized in the breed for that distinctive "eye" as well as strength of movement, and a competitive yet playful spirit. You can clearly see the likeness being passed on in his line. Any professional breeder/handler would be proud to produce a single Century Club winner (over 100 best of breed wins). Winslow Kennels has been fortunate enough to produce 3. Including Sir Josh are Ch. Winslow Summit Rob Roy and Ch. Winslow Summit Raise a Ruckus. In total, there are now 5 generations from the Sir Josh line that have earned ASSA Century Club status.Winslow Kennels continues today to emphasize "Quality over Quantity", producing no more than 2-3 litters per year. All litters are carefully planned and bred for the sole purpose of continuing our quality line of Shetland Sheepdogs. To date, 28 home bred champions have come from the Winslow line.
